14 tsi to be dropped in 2015

Featured Replies

Nice,

but is the Skoda Twincharger not to be dropped anyway in 2014, or are they not introducing the Mk3 Fabias this year?

(and very very few GTI or Cupra are selling in the UK now, really very few.)

The Cupra Twincharger was on sale in 2009, that is the year before the vRS Fabia, or the GTI,

so they followed the Seat, not the other way.

Some Cupras already had faulty engines before Skoda Released the vRS.

Odd article, how can they say the Fabia 1.9 TDI 130 bhp was not particularly well received.

They seem again to omit that the Audi A1 has the same 1.4 TSI Twincharger Engine, as the other 3.

The MKII vRS will have had as long a run as the MKI - although slightly fewer sales...

Correct me if Im wrong but doesnt the A1 1.4 only have a turbo?????

You can get it in 185PS twin charge.

Same engine available in the A1, 1.4 tsi Twincharger/DSG, but official figures 185 ps (182.5 bhp), Different ECU map, & ignition Coils.

They have Oil Users as well even though Audi have sold so few of them.

Audi/VW seem never to mention this Lemon in any articles.

actually the A1 puts out just the same power produced as the 178bhp/180 ps Minimum engine often produces when on 98 ron petrol.

Some might only produce 178bhp on 95 ron Unleaded.

...and driven by hairdressers ;).

Not that the Skoda Fabia exactly has a good "Image" either mind you. Mainly driven by stinky old pensioners one step from checking into a care home aren't they? Lol ;-)

That's the appeal - catches out the unsuspecting!

Skoda, or rather VAG, will be going down the downsizing route and making smaller capacity turbos for efficiency, wouldn't be surprised if they bring a 1.0L turbo out like Ford and Renault.

Peugeot are downsizing their bigger petrol engines to 1.2 turbos for their new models and VAG are chucking the 1.2 TSI in all their medium size hatches now, they could probably boost the BHP of the 1.2 quite easily to that of the current 1.4 TSI.

120bhp would be no problem for the 1.2 to chuck out.

As for stinky old pensioners, my wife's dad thought I was going to start cabbing when I told him I was buying a Skoda!

Were the first twin chargers not in the MKV Golf GT (140PS and 170PS)?

Not forgetting that other hairdressers' favourite, the Scirocco (160PS).

Yes they were.

correct though not sure the 160 was twin

My dad has a mk5 golf with the 140twin on a 57 plate so it's been out a while now though emissions have been improved as he's paying around £190 tax compared to £135 on the fabia.

The Scirocco PS160 is definitely a twin charge.

Guy in work has one - in white as well :p - despite this and having hair like Jedward he's a bit of a man for the ladies.

A member here had a Sirocco Twincharger and i believe that was one of the ones with the wrong spark plugs in straight from the factory.

He can maybe say if his was the one where they discovered that when replacing the faulty Injectors fitted from the factory.

'Volkswagen Audi Group' are rather careless with Quality Control of their parts suppliers and their Engine Factories.

They are putting a 1.4 TSI engine in the Rapid Spaceback, the 122ps version. So maybe just shifting which models the engine is used in.

If the very first engines in to a Fabia Mk3 are not to Euro 6 emissions they will have to fit those soon after introduction,

the vehicle needs to be euro 6 compliant in its Production life.

Any new Polo will have to have Euro 6 Emission Engines from the off.

(if Type Approved after Jan 2015 i believe)

Probably this is why we have never heard from Skoda which engines wll be in the Fabia MK3's,

what i call the Mk3 Maybia.

They need to get the car right because of all the competition there will be from other Manufacturers,

So Light, Fuel Efficient, look OK and be a competitive price.

Hopefully a decent choice of engines and a choice of gearbox with each version.

Euro 6 emissions opens a whole other can of worms with diesel cars.

But that's not the twin charger engine, which I believe this thread was about?
