Subwoofer For FL Octy mk2 vRS

Featured Replies

I recently bought a 2009 Octy vRS estate and would like to improve on the sound a little. I don't know a great deal about subwoofers, amps etc but what I am after is something relatively easy to fit, that could go at the side of the boot, where the small cubby hole doors are. I don't need anything top of the line just something to make it sound a little nicer. Any suggestions of plug and play subwoofers would be appreciated and if you have photos even better.

I don't know if it will make a difference but I have been told I have the upgraded sound system as I have 3 speakers in the front door cards.

Cheers

Forgot to mention it has the Columbus head unit.

If you've got Dynaudio or whatever brand the upgrade was, doesn't that come with a sub?

To be honest I really don't know, I didnt even realise I had the upgraded system until I read on here that 3 speakers in the front door is the upgraded system. If it does have a sub its not very good.

Whats your budget?

Plug n play or active is what you are looking for

I don't know what a decent budget would be for such a thing, would £200 be sufficient or am I looking at a lot more.

Cheers

The above are all non-canbus bases systems.  How are we to integrate with the vehicle?  From where would we draw the power from, I'm sure it would require somewhere between 30-60Amps @ 12V.  How do we also get the audio signal as the Bolero/Columbus do not have any pre-outs?

there is a switched live in the interior fuse box you can use.

The power and earth cables are run seperate to the cars main system.

As for signal, you have a few options.

1. Splice into the rear speakers with a high level input which gives you rca's but next to no control

2. Buy a device such as the mosconi 4 to 8 or JL Cleansweep or Audison bit1 (or 10 i cant remember off hand) which all enable you to splice into the system and regain control over the channels you gain.
