Combi roof bars different to MKII?

Featured Replies

I'm awaiting delivery of a 2.0 TDI Elegance combi (black) which should be soonish as it's "in transit". I'm coming from a MKII combi and had Skoda official roof bars for it and I'm wondering if these will fit? I doubt it as the rail profile looks different but hoping someone on here will know?

If Skoda Roof bars are made by Thule (like most manufacturers roof bars), they should fit ok if the holders oipen wide enough to go around your bars.

I know my Thule ones work fine on most std roof bars

Hi,

The cross section of the MKIII rails are bigger than the one on the MKII, it's not possible to close the MKII roof bar on it.

I just checked Thule website and my current rack bought for my 330D (961 Wing-bars and 757 foot pack) fits the Octavia 3 estate roof rails (and it definately fits my fathers XC90 roof rails as he has borrowed it numerous times), the same roof-bars and foot pack is used on the Octavia 2.

Cheers, I figured they were alright though I haven't had a chance to check out the MKIII rails.

Looks like I'm gonna be getting the bars as well as the towbar from the dealers then.

I'll try sell the bars for the MKII.

Hi Sweetums, did you ever get round to trying the Octy II roofbars on your Octy III and confirming they don't fit. I have the same situation with my Octy III turning up in the next few weeks.

I have a pair of Thule roof bars I bought for a Saab 9-5, which had very fat roof rails, so my old old bars wouldn't fit. Those Thule bars fit my Octy II Combi just fine, and I see no reason why they wouldn't fit a mark 3.

Mk2 bars don't fit, I had some and tried. Got correct Skoda bars for my mk 3 combi from dealer. The mk3 bars are a lot easier to fit - no tightening tool required.

Also got £65 for the mk2 bars on Ebay.

OK thanks, looks like the Octy II roof bars will be going up for sale!
