A very common question - bulbs/lights

Featured Replies

Just a quick one - the yellow bulb warning light came on today, but when I checked all the lights, they all work fine. Only done 14000 miles since new so I was surprised to see it. My friend works in a Skoda dealer and said that it's a warning of bad things to come i.e. that one of the bulbs is on its way out. Is that right? Perhaps the connection to the sensor is loose?

Anyone else had this issue? Thanks.

It's warning you that a bulb has blown. Indicator, tail, fog, etc. Visually inspect to check all bulbs are working and replace the one that isn't.

Aha found it! Number plate light. Right-hand side. Gone. Wow, a warning light just for that. Well done Skoda. And thanks for your help. I just checked all lights and indicators for a minute and there you go.

Glad you're sorted.

Sometimes it can be an indication that a bulb is about to go, if you can't immediately identify the culprit. As it works on a resistance value from each bulb; so if one is reaching end of life, that can vary slightly and sometimes bring up the error.

my new (to me) 05 skoda had the light come on checked car but all lights ok,  main beam bulb blew an hour later

Yep, seen that before! :)

Also bulbs rarely fail completely, at least initially.

Quite often a bulb will blow but the movement of the car can reconnect the damaged filament, hence the sometimes unexplained and random warnings.
