Electric Windows

Featured Replies

Yes I have searched, yes there are threads on electric window problems but no I haven't found the answer to my problem.

Both my electric windows recently stopped working, searched Briskoda and nothing, searched google and it linked to a thread on here??? Similar problems both electric windows dead.

I have tried putting the key in the drivers door lock and manually resetting but that does nothing.

I have replaced all fuses for new ones

The electric mirrors are operational

Both passenger and driver side switches do nothing

My next step is to disconnect the battery.

Any help, as always would be great!

No idea if it will work or not, but may be worth a try.

If you open up either front door you should see the door loom. If you take off the cover on the car side, you should see all the connections, try unplugging the top one and plugging it back in. The connection is also prone to corroding so may also needing cleaning up.

This sorts the problem I get where the passenger window completely stops working.

Thanks jack, I've just checked those and they seem ok.

I disconnected the battery for 2 hours. Reconnected and as soon as I did that the passenger window went down on its own. I got it pressed all the buttons and fully operational?

Strange.

Usually if the drivers one fails it will stop the passenger from working as well so I would go for a drivers side window motor

Mine is doing exactly the same as yours. So leaving the battery off for abit has sorted yours then? I was going to order a new drivers window motor

Mine stopped the other week too. I'm sure it's a 'feature' to keep out the cold this time of year :)

My experience, and previous threads, suggest that it is the wet weather causing problems. Mine did this last winter, was going to buy a new drivers window motor but the weather ot better and it started to work again, all through the summer.

This Octoberish, it stopped working again. I did remove the driver motor and 'dried' it out over a weekend and it worked again until more wet weather. Water is getting in somewhere which affects the motor in my opinion, not sure what to do, apart from waiting for better weather so it all dries out again!

Pretty sure this is the case. The fabias don't seem to like the wet weather very much it causes a few issues all round the car.

I have a similar issue with my wife's 07 Fabia VRS SE, the front electric Windows stopped working on NYE. I tried removing/re-inserting the 46 fuse and/or 58 fuse with limited success, ie both windows worked until the car was next locked/unlocked. I then noticed the car battery was pretty flat and not recharging properly (was original battery) so bought and fitted a new 096 type battery to it earlier this week. After doing the post 'reconnect battery' steps described on other posts and in the manual (reset radio code, test drive and reset electrics window with key in lock to close position for 3 secs, remove key & repeat), the windows fired into life and I though I had solved it :-)

Unfortunately not :-( Today I checked the car and drivers side switches were not working at all, passenger side only works going down (irrespective of whether key is in ignition) and to get it back up you have to fiddle the switch to get it up 1/2cm at a time. I've had the drivers switch out and couldn't find any issues with it when I tested the electrical connections. The fact the windows have been intermittently working perfectly I don't think it is a physical connection. Having looked at haynes manual electrical diagrams, I'm v suspicious whether one of the control units has stopped working properly, particularly the one in the lock system that tells both the windows to work on unlocking the car/ignition. Any thoughts would be appreciated but I fear this might be a job for the Skoda garage to resolve!

The windows stopped working again over the weekend.

I disconnected the battery Saturday evening and reconnected it Sunday morning, the windows worked again for all of 3 hours and stopped again!?

Begining to **** me off!

Anyone want a Skoda Fabia Vrs?

Could be worse, I finally fixed my passenger window mechanism on Saturday as it broke ages ago and has been propped up with wood ever since. Such a pair in the willy trying to get all the cables where they need to go and then the lock pin kept coming disconnected when tried to get the door card back on. At one point the door card moved really fast across the drive way. I hate my Fabia and I'm pretty sure it hates me too so that's just fine.
