Fabia vRS 15 months of ownership and over 15,000 miles done...

Featured Replies

So 15 months into ownership of a well known Brisky car and you know what...

EPIC.

Ibiza Owners Club organised a rolling road day last weekend to help with donations of their Ibiza MK1 ('88) restoration and I figured why not put the Fabia on just to annoy all the Ibiza lads :D

So those who don't know the car it's a ex-track car which I bought with IIRC 152,000 miles on the clock, running a few tweaks so the last owner had several graphs of a 200bhp 300lb.ft nature (give or take!)

Within around 6 months of ownership (and around 7,000 miles)  I put it on a set off rollers and was happy to see it ran very similar power (within a few hp and torques) of the above!

However shortly after the dogbone mount gave up the ghost on a bad bit of road (and some throttle usage) just off J21 of the M1.

I replaced it (and uprated it!) and a few other bits done at the same time. Got the car back and carried on using it as a daily hog (now with full interior)

Early on into getting it back and pushing a newish shape S3 up a hill between 20mph-70mph I was happy everything was well, but after another few months I just felt the power seemed to be lacking, maybe placebo of the above...

So on it went to the rollers, me telling the guys I expected 180bhp and would be happy with 190bhp. After all thats only a few bhp down on the original figures it made with everything as fresh as a daisy.... oh and at this stage the car had something like 176,000+ on the clock...

202bhp and 297lb.ft

I'm lovin' it.

Graph to follow.

That's some good going. Goes to show if you look after a car it will look after you!

Nice one ! What mods are you running out of interest ?

All done by the previous owner

But its a hybrid turbo and seat sport intercooler and pipes, standard exhaust, PD160 air intake and panel filter and a tame remap. It could get mapped again and see the usual 220bhp - 360lb.ft but its not slow as it is and its only a daily car.

Ran a 14.4 down the 1/4 last year @ Pod too. Which I was happy with taking into account the weight.

Almost one year bump.

This evening it crossed a new mile stone.

Bit of a bump for this as

Took it for its MOT today (3rd in my ownership I think?!)

With just shy of 189,000 miles on the clock and running 200bhp and 300lb.ft is passed with no issues at all.

In fact the tester asked me if I had run some fuel cleaner additive as the machine could barely pick anything up on the smoke test! To which I had replied no as I haven't.

Still a happy skoda owner :D

Awesome, good to see the old girl still going strong

Seems to be a machine (literally!)

I always service it with the basic stuff, always warm it up and cool it down and to be fair between 9 outta 10 times I use in traffic so barely get to stretch the old girl legs but for what it is, it a beast. Starts first time every time and just gets me to where I need to go!

Getting close to 50k usage and I really want to just keep it forever. I keep thinking oh I will sell it and get something else and each time I get back in the car and I am like why?! 50mpg everywhere, 200bhp so more than enough for daily use and this place!

Worth every penny so thanks man for making the car bullet proof! Said it before several times but a true credit to its previous owner!

Fantastic!

Sold my vrs with 150k on it and it ran like a dream, the 1.9's seem hard as nails!

This is all good to hear........seeing as im looking at one tonight with 141k on the clocks with a FULL service history!

Fingers crossed its a goodie

I wouldn't let mileage put you off! That said to me its all about the owner and I find any well known forum member of the relevant forum will have looked after the car ten times better than a random sale.

Bought my MR2, Gixxer, VX220 and Fabia via forums and all have been epic.

You'll be fine my mate had a vw passat with over 300,000 on the clock and it's still going strong today.

It spent its 141k behind a gritter by the looks of it!
