Dented bonnet!

Featured Replies

Hi all, and happy new year to you!

Speaking of new year - a 'reveller' has left a bottom shaped dent on my bonnet while parked in an overnight car park. I can't be 100% sure it was not a flying object - it was very stormy, but since I've been watching Sherlock over Christmas - who hasn't - I deduce that someone thought it was 'fun' to jump from a railing next to the car and see what damage could be done to the unbreakable Yeti.

The cars been parked in darkest violent Hackney for over three years, two massive 150 years old trees falling on the car during the big storm (actually making the newspaper) but sadly it was a quiet Cornish car park where the really expensive damage occurs. Not happy!

I was wondering if anyone has used one of the mobile dent repair companies or similar - in the North London area?

The dent is not deep, no paint damage and I think should be a relatively simple job.

I don't want to jeopardise my insurance premium etc, it's hopefully less than my excess and I have a few little dents too.

Am I the only one to have a dented Yeti?

I did use the Halfords scratch repair service a few years back (so along the same lines) and although initially it looked OK in sunlight there was a definite difference in shade on the repaired panel. Not a lot but enough to be annoying. After that for any damage involving paintwork I used the local Accident Repair Centre who I found reliable, reasonably priced and quick. Sorry that doesn't give you a recommendation, which I guess is what you would like, but if it was me I'd try a couple of local body shops for prices and it might be worth speaking to your nearest Skoda dealer, they might offer a competitive price.

Thanks for the pointer - I think I'll have to ring around

I had three small dents taken out of a rear door on my previous Octavia, no paint damage just small dings from carelessly opened doors. Had it done at local repairers who had the car in for a front door scrape.

The guy who did it used to work on the production line at Ford removing small dents and charged £50 per panel. Results were incredible, just like new. Ask around at local repair shops if they have anyone who does paint-less dent removal.

I also had 2 small "dings" repaired by the paint-less dent removal procedure (not to be confused with a fill and spray repair), and as yetikent states, the results are invisible. There are plenty of mobile firms advertising this service.

Good luck!
