1.2TSi Turbo rattle

Featured Replies

I've had my car for nearly two months and covered just over 2000 miles. Since day 1, there has been a rattle coming from the turbo/waste gate when revved to around 3000rpm at a standstill. After doing some research on here I discovered that it is a common problem and should be fixed under warranty.

So I took my car to Skoda and they had a look (at the rattle as well as a gearbox crunch) After having the car for nearly 2 hours, they told me that nothing was wrong and that it is perfectly normal, and that the noise is nothing to worry about and part of the design.... Why did it take them 1 hour and 45 mins to tell me this?!

I have decided to ring another dealership on Monday and get them to take look, as quite frankly I am not happy with how the first dealership responded. In my opinion the car sounds broken (I know it isn't) and I don't think a 63 plate car should be like this.

Any advice would be appreciated.

No it is not right, instead of me linking, there are 4 good threads come up if you google

briskoda fabia 1.2 tsi wastegate rattle

As far as I know it is a line that rattles against the engine or something close.

Im sure there was a recall or something on these and a spacer was fitted to stop this happening

Thanks for the replies guys! I found these topics before I even rang up the first dealer, but they were adamant nothing was wrong :/

I had the spacer fitted but that rattle is still there and will be there. 32KOFDATA there is nothing to do with the rattle that is produced by the fuel line and it comes behind the glovebox (LHD car).

My wife had this issue with a VW Touran 1.2 tsi and they replaced the turbo which fixed the issue.
