slipping clutch

Featured Replies

Has anyone any idea what clutch is in the vrs 2.0? Mine has started to slip after Revo remap now running at 270bhp, can anyone recommend a clutch kit and someone to fit it

Is that a stage 2 Revo remap? Standard clutch should be able to 270bhp (and what, 300 lb ft?).

My stock clutch is just starting to slip with 82k miles and 370 lb ft on a linear throttle.

Hi john no I think its stage 1, car has only done 27k miles

I would be very, very surprised if you've got 270bhp from a stage 1 map, even on a TSI, and enough torque to make the clutch slip at 27k. If the standard unit is the same as the one fitted to some of the other VAG stuff with 230/240/260 bhp, then it ought to be able to cope unless you're getting LOADS of boost from your map.

I don't really know a lot about upgraded clutches but I'm interested to find out.

Grizzle is it noisey? Is it still dual mass or have you changed it to single mass flywheel

Ive just checked john on the print out from the rolling road it says

Skoda vrs revo stage 1

269.0bhp and 292.5lbft

Is that not normal then?

no it wasnt mate, if you mean on idle a tiny tiny amount of chatter, but i could easily live with that knowing that it could handle over 405ftlb of torque, it was a single mass flywheel, would highly recommend it.

How much was it to get fitted?

£300, that also included fitting Bilstein Shock absorbers.

My std sachs clutch is slipping in 5th and 6th after only 30k miles, so it is possible to overwhelm them easily. The answer is the uprated sachs clutch and smf as grizzle has had done. Be careful if just changing the clutch plate, as it could be an LUK clutch as both are supplied to Skoda. They are not interchangeable; a sachs clutch will only fit a sachs flywheel

That figure seems optimistic on a stage 1 car, even a TSI. 270 bhp and 300 lb ft are stage 2 figures on a lot if cars. I'd be interested to see the results on another dyno.

I went hybrid turbo on mine in October at just under 80k. The clutch has only just started slipping between 3000-3500 rpm in 5th and 6th with 370 lb ft.

Same here john between 3000rpm and 3500rpm when you plant it

Surprising it's gone so soon, mine had to 60k before I mapped it, then a good 10k or so at stage 1, another 5-7k at stage 2+ and has only just been bothered with the big power.
