Let me know what you need faboka as I know a man, so far he has been competitive but not massively cheap, just need the model number of the pad.

  • That's a pretty poor customer service   Would have cost little to send out some replacements, rather than peeing a customer off   Have heard good things about about EBC Blue   The OEM spec Minte

James, I've never tried the Ferrodos so can't add comment on them but I do swear by Tarox corsa .401. I've used them on my Octavia and I'm just waiting for another set to arrive from Italy for the Rov

  • I specifically bed mine in (as opposed to just bedding them in whilst driving around). 20 odd stops increasing in speed and for longer durations but never coming to a stop (so off the pedal at around

Cheers will check the part number. Think kam racing. Are charging £105 for the clio.

I used ds2500 in my ibiza cupra r and then mk1 leon cupra r with no issues. Between both cars covered well over 100k miles. Did various trackdays including the nurburgring in both and pads lasted fine. Don't know if it was because both of those cars ran the brembo 4pot caliper. Only time I managed to overheat them was on the stelvio pass. I haven't tried ebc yellowstuff or other pads in comparison as I was happy with the ferodo.

I have since used DS3000 pads and had no issue on the Oulton Park track day in February, I have to say the overall feel of the 3000's far out performed the 2500's even when cold driving to the circuit they work extremely well.

Ferodo have declined to respond to any of my emails or calls regarding the 2500 pad issue, this I find bad customer service on there part even if the outcome was that the defect was my fault. The discs that they claimed were damaged from excessive hear are now running on another car with no issues at all.

As for my driving style MT, I am quite smooth and tend to trail brake into the corner to load the front of the car up for better turn in, rather than a heavy jab of the pedal before every corner. I like to work on brake points and turn in when at the circuit because if the brakes are on then speed is obviously decreased and that means you are slow      carry  as  much  spe ed as possible with a good line and one day I might even catch BossFox  :wonder:

It's obviously a huge disappointment that Ferodo won't discuss the matter with a customer; that would put me right off them. But it's interesting that the 3000s hold up. It seems to me that some pads work with some cars, and others just don't work at all - trying to figure out which is which is the hard part.

As to driving style, I'm reporting what worked for me with my set up (great discs and pads, stock calipers, 1100kg FWD road car/semi slicks): we've found that the 'early brakers' tended to lose their brakes much faster. And that braking on the road is almost the complete opposite of braking on the track, and that it's hard to unlearn the road braking. The  track braking is more like "hard on, soft/gradual release, then steering and throttle" (rather than one GodAlmighty stop at the end of the straight... if you see what I mean).

Last time I bought Ferodo's I had one pad completely drop off of the metal carrier, and it was on the front. They had done maybe 500 miles. Luckily I was less than a mile from home and got home and swapped cars but I will never buy Ferodo's again.

One of my mates on another forum used to be a brake tech guy for Ferodo in AUS. A lot of the guys on my other forum use DS2500 or DS2000 in various applications including track days without the pads looking like that.

I'd link him back to this except he probably can't see the photos if he isn't a member. I'll link him to the FB post

I can't see how the distributor could make a diagnosis without actually getting the pad in their possession. Certainly in AUS the distributor would get the pads back for analysis (never to be returned to the customer;-) ) & offer a replacement set very quickly as a goodwill gesture just to keep things a bit quiet.

I used to work in retail & it's pretty easy to turn a negative into a positive if you're willing to chuck your profit margin out the window as a one-off. Usually it gains a new customer & they come & spend shedloads more over the years.

Thanks Brad, would be good to see if Ferodo can do something, I best go and check where I put the pads

How is the consensus then?

Avoid Ferodo for now? Or are you satisfied with the 3000s James?

I might need some replacements for the pads in my Octy, running standard set up. Now I'm not sure what to get.

DS3000's I got in my Brembos off cntuning took a pounding at Oulton Park and are fine, to the point I have bought some more to replace them with.

What does remain the same is that Ferodo customer service is dreadful.
