cold side dv relocation

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted the forge coldside dv kit? Does it affect the noise at all?

Edited by vrscarl

Yes, I have.

I never fitted the Forge DV in it's original position so can't comment on noise when fitted there (closer to the inlet/maf pipework so presume louder), but on the cold side closer to the throttle body it's reasonably quiet but still audible.

Like a pssd when lifting of rather than a phatisshh like an atmo dump valve!!

I don't have a cone filter, but a de-finned air box with a 3" cold feed and a K&N panel filter.

The cold side kit isn't designed for noise but to get cold air into the engine (cold air good, hot air bad), the standard position DV recirculates the already cooled air back through the turbo so it gets hot again, with the cold side DV it dumps the air back into the inlet but allows the cold air from the intercooler through the throttle body into the engine (hope that makes sense).

I don't know about power gains on the Octy VRS, but my Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 picked up 6 bhp with just that mod, running stage 2 mods and  23psi of boost, made 317.7bhp before, fitted the cold side then made 323bhp (at Powerstation in Cheltenham).

The noise from that atmo dump valve @ 23psi used to make old ladies jump!

Oh forgot to mention my Vrs is currently running stage 1, however everything's in place for stage 2 including a Forge fmic.

It's a pointless mod that doesn't improve things can loose power ;-)

I did.... Good at looking like a coloured hose and showing ur diverter :)

I was bored and money burns holes lol

To make it sweep round tidy u end up buying a extra length of 25mm hose tho iic

It'll all boil down to your intake temps as to whether it's worth it or not. NOrmally moving a DV is for big turbo conversions on things so I doubt you;d get any major gains or anything but in the same breath I can't see it doing any harm- your call really.

Lovely engine bay BTW

Cheers mate, it did nowt, just put colour in the bay :D

Waste of money, time & effort!

Theres so much more u could buy for sure :)

I just wanted to see the valve lol
