Conditions for Stop Start system?

Featured Replies

Just picked up my 60 plate Greenline 1.6 tdi. I know it has auto stop start fitted as standard but I haven't actually witnessed it doing this. On the test drive I wasn't aware this was a standard feature (only after research at home) and it was all a road driving to I didn't meet the criteria for stop start.

However on my way into work this morning, in traffic; I came out of gear, put the handbrake on and came off all pedals but the car did not stop. The car was well warmed up with a 20 minute motorway blast prior to the traffic. The only reason I can this is perhaps either the cold ambient air temperature (-1C on the display) or the fact that it requires fuel (warning light had just come on before traffic).

Could someone let me know if either of these are the cause and if not what I should be looking for to see if there is a fault.

On another note, on the Bolero system, what does the right dial do? I would have thought it could be useful for scrolling up and down my SD files and selecting files but it does nothing as far as I can tell?

Could have been a number of things.

Battery drain due to the temps and bits you had switched on.

Need to keep the heater working to maintain cabin temp.

Regen cycle on your DPF.

And so on...

Thanks,  is there anyway to know when a regen cycle is occurring? Also can the ash content be seen from a standard obd2 reader and the Torque app or is VCDS required?

Regarding your query on the Bolero unit's right-hand dial/knob

From the manual;

Setting up button
› RADIO mode – turn for manual station adjustment; press briefly
to start or stop the automatic play (Scan).
› MEDIA mode – turn to change track; press briefly to start or
stop the automatic play (Scan).

If you don't have a manual  for the Bolero unit then a Google search will soon find a down-loadable PDF file version.
