VRS going back to dealers for warranty repairs tomorrow 21/1/14

Featured Replies

I think a few have taken theirs in to dealers to look at the eco mode issue already, i haven't heard of anyone getting a fix, if any fix was coming it would be from SUK and would be a recall with a software update id imagine?

I obviously dont know how to use climate control very well.

I adjust the temperatures using the outside knobs, then adjust fan speed using centre knob. Im assuming once ive set the temperatures, i should leave the centre knob alone?

Once it's on Auto all you need to do is set your desired temperature, the climate control will take care off the rest.

Climate control is basically a set and forget kind of thing, the car will automagically set the fan speed and directions where required.

Very new to me. Hence why i asked earlier. More reading of manual required.

With Climate Control in this 'Auto' setting, does it have the AC switched on, or is this still at your own discretion?

I think you can switch it off, but again there's no need to.  Plus if you don't use it regularly the seals will dry up and it'll leak its refrigerant.

The reason for swtiching AC off when not needed, is because of the extra fuel the AC uses.

I run AC every now and again to keep it working. Never heard of seals drying up and leaking refrigerant though.

What happens when im away for 3 months and the car is hardly run.

i dont think thats as relevant with the octavia nowadays.  The mkii used to run a low percentage of AC even when it the AC was switched off so id guess the mkiii does too.

Thankyou Neily. Just been out to play about with the climate control, and learnt an awful lot. Never really noticed that auto button before.

Fantastic. Thanks all.

If you press the Setup button you can adjust how aggressive the fan is overall.

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

Cool beans. Hadnt seen that in the setup menu. Cheers Andy

It's not in the setup menu, it's a physical button with 'Setup' written on in in the fan speed knob.

Oh. I shall have a look. Is this another button i have failed to take notice of in 1 months ownership!

Turns out i had noticed the button before. But wasnt 100% sure what it was doing. Was going to read the manual but never got round to it.

Thanks for everybodies help.

Just got my car back and all issues sorted apart from DSG eco mode.

Basically said thats just how it is which is pretty stupid as its potentially dangerous on the motorway when you get no power for about 3 seconds. I suspect Skoda will at some point recall DSG vehicles when they finally sort the issue.

Anyway nothing wrong with the service, very polite and helpful and car washed and cleaned inside and out.

I would ask them to raise with Skoda technical, in an Elegance DSG CR150 it doesn't behave like that, it matches the revs perfectly when you go back on the throttle. I've only seen vRS owners complaining about this, so it is something specific to DSG vRS's.
