Suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush

Featured Replies

The last time I took my Skoda Fabia Comfort 16v 2002 for an MOT I received and Advisory note stating that:

Nearside Front Suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush;

Nearside front Anti-roll bar has slight play in a pin/bush;

Are these things which I could sort out myself or do I need to get a mechanic to repair them? Thanks.

Depends entirely how competent you are. They are relatively easy things to sort out but there's a safety factor involved. If you're not sure get someone who knows what they're doing to do it.

I would get a mechanic to replace your console bushes with cupra ones since that's what it'll be, get him to do the ARB bushes while he's at it, both are quick easy jobs with the correct tooling and a lift, much tougher for the DIY mechanic rolling around on the ground. I don't do writhing on the floor any more. Budget about £150 parts and labour for the lot to be done.

I just looked up 'Console bushes' at Europcarparts.com and it doesn't bring anything up. What should I be looking for?

It's a dealer part only, Ibiza Cupra console bushes, it's what I have fitted, I think I bought mine from ebay but it was a while ago, be worth a look.

They are not dealer only and powerflex are far better than the cupra item and considerably easier to fit.

Thank you.

What am I looking for in terms of the ARB bushes?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but it is a bit confusing for those of us who aren't in the know. I've found a mechanic to fit them for me.

I would go powerflex for all bushes.

They are very high quality and they also offer a no quibble lifetime warranty.

Thanks again.

ARB bushes don't really matter as long as they're new, just get your mechanic to sort them out, standard ones are very cheap but are available in different sizes depending on which size ARB you have.
