Help arrrggh ! Faults!

Featured Replies

Hi all i have tried searching for info on this specific issue i have found similar but not the same,

My fabia EML has been on solid for about 3 weeks poor fuel poor idle etc

So iv changed the temp sensor (improved)

Changed plugs again improved

Idle is spot on now fuel consumption waay better

But

EML light cleared but niw returnes flashing when sitting at junctions then when i pull away it stops flashing?

If i leave it ticking over it goes from flashing to solid with the cylinder 1 misfire code

I have unplugged coil 1 and engine doesnt change?

I swap coil 1 & 2 engine doesnt change?

When i changed the plugs number 1 was black/oil looking to other 2 had better days but 1 was different

I have also added redex during week 1 of the issue

Please any advice would be great im stumped :(

Id be inclined to plug it into vcds and see if its logged any faults i think.

Welcome to the forum.

So what engine, what age, what mileage, just any info really might help,

But a Diagnostic Check is going to need doing.

Hi thanks for getting back to me whats vcds? Sorry not very technical :(

It's fabia 2002 classic mpi 1.2 petrol 56,000miles i thought it was sorted with the temp sensor change as drives great?

Does this mean its on 2 cylinders constantly? Or when the light comes on?

I have just been out for a run in it and its def worse now with coils 1 & 2 switched round just sounds a lot rougher when sitting idling same EML sequence though only flashes until i move away then goes off :(

Also one of my coils (num 1)has a bosch label on the top like its been replaced before this was also the coil where the plug was really black / oily

Its too dark / late now to go out and have a look will have to gave a go tomorrow :o

Maybe someone can help here. ('Estate Man' will be along hopefully and know the engine.)

or better in the Skoda Mk1 section.

A Mod can maybe move the thread for you.
