Featured Replies

when i first fitted my recirc valve i removed the standard one and fitted the new one the same way... (upright)..

then someone told me it was on wrong and said turn it on its side so the spring opens with the flow..?....

so i did this following advice..

but since, its been on my mind as why would they fit the standard one upright in the first place... lol

then i see a thread on another sit saying it doesnt matter which way (wtf :-s)

so here's the silly question lol.. what way is it ''supposed'' to go??

going out the front with my dickhead light and rectifying this right away! :-)

Actually TBH on aftermarket DV like forge they can run both ways without issues. This does change the noise somewhat as fitted sideways make dv sound like a strangled cat. So most folks fit as per std way which I would recommend.

done. back the way i first had it (upright), and i prefer it. sounds better in my opinion

yeah, just out of curiosity (as I've never strangled a cat before), I wanted to know what the other way sounded like. So I changed it around a few months ago. Even though it seems to fit neater into the pipework, I couldn't live with the noise it made so changed it back right away.

It sounded to me as if it wasn't letting as much air past (higher pitched noise = more restriction??) and the sound seemed to last a fraction of a second longer at each gear change..... but that could be all in my head.

On another note, you don't waste much time till you get stuff done to the car, seems to be coming along very quickly!

ive just payed for my revo stage 2 mapped ecu,, being posted tommorow.

3' downpipe should be here tommorow,

picked up a nice ko3s turbo with forge actuator day before yesterday,

ordered a turbo to mani gasket which should be here tommorow,

have a gallon of oil and a filter ready, going to drop the sump, clean up the pick up and check oil pump. if that doesnt look great i will buy a new one...

just waiting until wed, so i can get it up on my buddies 4 poster and do everything in one go..

have a really annoying starter motor, squeels when the ring gear disengages... have a new one ready to fit wed lol

i will get there :-)

Ah the joys of vRS ownership it's a never ending saga. Start yourself a project thread it's kinda like therapy.

i should do mate, but when i see other peoples it makes mine look or feel poo haha

changed coolant temp senser, brake light switch, bloody abs sensor, loads lol

but even with her faults, i still felt she was a great car with awesome potential :-)

ha, all that's left to replace now are micro switches in the doors and window mechanisms and you'll have changed everything breakable  :giggle:

A lift is something I've always wanted and at this stage it would have paid for itself with all the family cars.

oh, just a note on the starter. It's a common fault too but just make sure the replacement is a starter from an 02j gearbox and not from another AUQ engine as most of the other AUQs are 6 speed. I made that mistake and ended up getting one from a AUQ Golf and it wouldn't fit.

Dont be put of by other builds mate, diesnt make urs anyless cool

Its all just time

People do different things

Or have different budgets or funding

Others do weird or strange things

Bottom line mate, you'll get there in the end :)

If we all had endless wallets and time all the build would be the same ....

Not skodas ha ha ha ha :D
