Out with the old (SE Twindoor) and in with new (Elegance Estate).

Featured Replies

It's hard to believe but nearly 3 years with my current (and first) Superb will be coming to an end in June and so plans are afoot to order the replacement.

I briefly kidded myself that I would just get a new Octavia Estate and even took one for a spin. I was say to myself how it would be more economical, it was nearly as big boot-wise and had lots of kit blah, blah blah.

However that lasted for about 5 mins after we returned from the test drive and decided to have a quick sit in the very hansom looking silver Elegance-spec estate in the showroom.....

We sat there looking at the (surprisingly nice) wood trim, wiggling in the comfort of the electric leather seats, turned to each other and Susy said "you don't really want the Octavia rather than this do you?"

Enough said, who am I to argue with SHMBO.....

My only decision is colour.  Can't be black again (total ****** to keep clean) and The Good Lady doesn't favour silver (which would probably have been my choice), so it's down to either Petrol Blue or the new dark metallic grey, either with ivory interior.

Other intended options are the upgraded sound system (might not be great but has to be better than the standard one) and the boot floor with rails and partition system.

Any comments/views on any of the above, particularly the colour choices, most welcome.

Oh and I'll be going from a 140 TDI DSG to the 170 because the improved efficiency of the new engines means I kind of get a free lunch re fuel economy.

Oh and even better that the Skoda Configurator is when you manage to fine some pics online of an example which will be almost identical to the one you want to buy.

Picture this with the FL and current alloys and this will be my exact car:

I have found that my metallic grey Superb is very easy to keep clean. I totally agree about the hassle in keeping a black car looking nice. I have had brilliant silver metallic but there are lots more of them around than in metallic grey and I do think that they don't look anywhere near as stylish as the darker colour on mine. If I had the money then I'd trade up to an estate because they look rather better than the hatchback and are more functional. However, I'm very happy with what I can squeeze into mine when the hatch is open. The one extra that I particularly enjoy is the extra set of sensors on the front. This gives me the chance to look like a much better driver than I am, simply by looking at the image on the dash to make sure that I don't scrape into another car in a crowded car park. I appreciate that the Superb is pretty easy to drive, but that I've found that extra sensor to be really useful. I should add that I continue to be delighted by the performance of the DSG box and would be very reluctant to return to a manual.

I will be trading my Yeti 140 Tdi SE+ (with DSG) for a 4 month old Superb Estate on Saturday. Black, 170 Tdi, 4 x 4, DSG. I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi interested to read the number of complaints about keeping black clean! I have black and use canuba wax it seems to last forever. I do wipe the car down after washing it shines like new, now 7 years old.

Just ordered a L&K 170 and looked at the range of new colours but I think the Superb in black looks very elegant particularly with sun set windows beige leather interior.

Before paying for upgrades do the sums on the L&k, for me with dealer discounts it was a no brainier.

I personally would got for the dark metallic grey... but I am biased.

I think it looks classier than the blue.

I also prefer the twindoor to the estate but I'm sure you have your reasons for going with the estate.
