help identifying hose

Featured Replies

Ok I have my eml on with car running what I feel as perfect but obviously something wrong as light is on. Diagnostic is showing the p0171 code (system running lean). I have identified a split hose going into my inlet manifold. If you look at the manifold where the dip stick is just to the right and behind it are 2hoses both the same size, the one furthest right has a big hole in it!

Went to skoda dealer and they want £21 for a new one but gave me a diagram of the hoses and it only looks about 6inches long. They didn't say what hose was or where it goes too. I did ask but weren't sure.

So my question is does anybody know if I should upgrade the hose or just get a replacement?

Like I said car is running fine just got light on which is bugging me.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Regards

Its a small breather hose, not the one posted above! I've just replaced the same one. I'll see if I can dig the part number out.

The diagram I got from dealer was of the inlet manifold, or that's what i think it is?/ I would say that's the rocker cover, or equivalent, in the picture above? If i'm wrong please be gentle as i'm still learning myself around engines in general :hi:  :hi:

However I have a different picture showing the inlet manifold (or the silver block at front of engine where the throttle body attaches to at one end??)

The pipe I need looks about 6 inches long with a right angle bend??

Found diagram same as dealer gave me. He said its number 26 from the diagram above.

Anybody know what it is and if I should upgrade when I replace it?? Like I said previous posts performance wise car feels great!

Buy the correct part from the dealer and get on and enjoy your car. I doubt you need the new hose to last another 10 years so an OEM replacement should be more than adequate. JMTPW.

I got the 3 pipes from creation ( and a free tax disc holder) got all 3 as I figured if one split won't be long before the others go.

Hear you there buddy. No worries about enjoying my car as its not affecting the performance, if it is, then who needs to bother with a remap :giggle:

I could just go and spend £21 on a hose that seems to have an affect on the car or I could put that £21 to upgrading several hoses in one go :whew:

Or remove whatever does not seem to affect the cars performance, and like you said enjoy the car.

JUST NEED TO GET THE EML LIGHT OUT AS ITS DOING MY NUT :wall:  :@

When you say 'the 3 pipes' do you mean the one from my earlier post?? If so what is it for??

Cheers

The pipe 26 that you link to is a hard plastic pipe under the inlet manifold that has the brake booster valve in, are you sure this is the one, as it is normally part number 6 or number 2 as linked by mushtafa. If you want bling go the silicon route, if not as DGW said, the originals went 10 years, no reason to think oem will last any less.

its definitely number 26 off the diagram I posted but its rubber not plastic?? If its part the sai for instance that can be removed then is that they way to go? I'll be getting it remapped in future so can get r tech to map it out if needs be!? I don't want to replace something that I will eventually remove anyway?

If you check out either Bowders1's how to threads in the technical guides section of the octy 1 area or Gee's RS thread in project journals, both have done simplifications in this area that are well documented with pictures so that you can get a feel for the job.

If you are going to mod the car, you might want to consider a catch can, and lose the pcv breather pipes altogether.

I should add a warning that reading Gee's thread is hazardous to your long term wealth :giggle: it is a very big thread.

The 3 I bought replace 2, 8, 11, 4 and 5 on the diagram mustafa posted, there oil breather pipes I got the creation Motorsport ones off eBay email them direct with the item no.s you need and they combine postage. If your fitting a catch can you won't need no. 5.

I had the p0171 as pipe 2 is split tapped up for now and fault cured so no it was down to that pipe. Will be fitting soon when I do the SAI/ n249/n112 delete as per bowders guide.

Kentphil1: Thanks for that I will have a look at bowders at g man. I know what you mean about ?'s build thread, I had to stop reading it as my imagination was going crazy!;-)

Chrisw: Thanks for that info. I think it maybe part of the deletes so will read up on them. If it is I may tape it temporarily until I decide to do delete.

Thanks for your help guys
