Spaces for extra AV modules in boot?

Hi All,

My VRS has a Nexus head unit, and a multi changer in the boot. In the unit for the multi changer there are extra slots for what I assume is more AV units. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Was a DVD based nav system ever available?
