Uprated smic

Featured Replies

Hi briskies

The modding bug continues....

Does anyone know if an uprated alloy smic is man enough for a stage 2 conversion as after reading all the fmic posts and then looking at the prices of the correct fitment kits I was just thinking if a direct replacement fitment smic (2" thicker though and alloy)

Any advice greatly appreciated

No

They get mixed reviews tbh. Plenty of 1.8t golfs running stage 2 on them.

Sod that....

Fit a FMIC and be done with it.

Front mounts aint exactly OEM looking. The side mounts are not visible. Depends what you want

I like you to spot my FMIC...

Not a great photo I know...

I spoke to r-tech recently about the exact same thing they said fmic is req for stage 2. These "upgraded" smic often flow worse than the oem unit. That's straight from the guys who do mapping on these engines.

Do it properly.

Out of interest has anyone relocated the SMIC to make it an FMIC? Be interesting to see what temp drops there were

Swedey how did you do pipe work as I can lay me sticky mits on a cooler like that but can't find a relatively cost effective and nice running pipe kit

When I had my forge fmic still on car, ypu could barely notice it.
