Rough idle and possible slight rattle in engine

Featured Replies

Hi ,

I have a 2010 Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDI CR SE 105BHP 5DR. In the last few months I have noticed a rough idle, possible loss and power and maybe a slight rattle in the engine.

Roughly 3 months ago I put 12l of petrol into the diesel engine but noticed it straight away and filled the rest with diesel. I also added some engine oil to the tank as was advised to.

I was in a garage a few weeks ago servicing car and garage man said he noticed it. He said it may be failed fuel injector and may be able to claim under warranty. He was not 100% sure without looking at it properly. I mentioned putting the small amount of petrol in but he said that wouldn't cause it.

Went to garage where I bought it and asked about it. They said it seemed to have fuel injector issue caused by 'washed diesel'. I have been buying diesel in some cheaper stations. They gave me Dipetane to treat it. Said it would take a couple of tanks of Dipetane treated diesel to work. Have used 1 tank so far with some success.

Anyone have any advice? Could this be a warranty issue? My warranty will run out in the next 10 days.

Anything else your car runs on!?

I'd be happy if my 105PD ran on SVO.

Have you changed the fuel filter?

Have you changed the fuel filter?

+1 , sure that petrol would breakdown the filter.

I had my car serviced since it happened so I assume this has been done. I'll double check this with the garage. Thanks for your help
