What sized pipe do I need to complete this custom fmic pipework?

Featured Replies

Hello.

As shown in a previous thread I made, my pipework is leaking. If I was to order one more metal pipe to replace the plastic one pictured. What angle would I need?

I currently have an airtech intercooler with their pipework and as seen it's almost replaced the standard pipe apart from this black one. I've ordered a 54mm silicone 90 degree bend for the EGR delete to the pipe but i'm not sure what sized pipe i'd need with regards to the angle to the silicone that goes near the front of the bumper. Not sure whether its 75 or 45 deg etc.

Pics kind of show what I mean!

Mine goes

EGR coupler

90* silicone

45* alloy pipe

45* silicone

Nice one! Cheers Dan.

Not sure how much give i'd get with a 54mm od silicone tubing attaching to a 51mm od alloy pipe though?Do you think it would clamp it tight enough or would I need to get 54mm alloy pipe (pretty hard to come by?!)

I don't think it would clamp mate, is your pipe work 54mm all the way through?

If it's just that silicone end which is 54mm then I would look at changing just that pipe.

Just measured it this second and it's 51mm for the custom pipework.

It's just the EGR delete is 54mm, so I ordered a 54mm 90° silicone tube to connect to the plastic boost pipe which is 51mm

Starting to think I should have gone smaller now and shoved it over the EGR delete? If that makes sense.

Balls, just measured a 51mm silicone pipe over the egr as said in the last post and it does actually go over the 54mm EGR delete with a bit of persuasion.

doesent the airtec cooler come with all pipework?

It comes with everything up to the part shown in the pic Steve, so 90% new parts and retains the plastic boost pipe up top.

I followed the diy boost thread

But looking at it, would a 45 degree pipe be better?

whats it like quality wise and will it m8 up to a hybrid turbo? currently got cupra cooler but want to up the power this yr  while my summer toys on the road

That's what I'm thinking buddy!

Quality is excellent mate and yes it will do. It uses the standard vag couplers but they are cnc machined as one part and again the quality is incredible.

If you look in my sig for my build thread I documented loads of pics that would be of interest to you matey :)

You can get a reducing bend

54 - 51 90 silicon
