Heyup. My car is skoda octavia 4x4 estate 2lt td 140 hp 2007

Featured Replies

My car, bought six months ago has the HALDEX 4x4 system. It is making what sounds like a duff bearing noise from rear axle/ transmission. Had it checked and haldex oil changed at Skoda dealer but has made little difference. The car is fitted with evenly worn tyres which have approximately a three quarters of life left.

All 4 tyres are same size, but different make and tread pattern with 2 rear tyres of one type and the front two another.

Is it likely that this tyre set up is giving the haldex system problems, if so can tis set causer damage to the 4x4 transmission?

Thaks in advance for any ideas/solutions

Snap on the car front!

I've had no problems with mine but I seem to recall hearing that some Scout owners have had problems with a worn linkage at the rear of the propshaft...

Here you go...   http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/137094-20-tdi-4x4-noisevibration/

However, have you checked that it isn;t a wheel bearing on the way out?  Jack car up and spin each wheel by hand feeling and listening for any noise or grittiness.  They also tend to show when turning a corner as they rumble more when loaded up...

Another owner here too. If the tyres are matched across the axle you should be ok. When I got mine it had three almost bald tyres and one with quite a bit of tread yet it worked fine on the test drive.
