My encounter with a Scoobie WR1

Featured Replies

One the way to Buckingham last night I had a scoobie WR1 behind me for most of the journey, came to a roundabout where I was nearly on the door mirrors (his car was perfectly level) then onto a dual carriageway.... I floored it.....accelerated away...... BBRRRRRRUUUUUURRRRR.. TSCH....... BRRRRRRRRRRR.......the unmistakable sound of a flat 4 vanishing towards the horzon :P

Whats the spec on the WR1? Phenominal acceleration! A really nice looking car, amazing noise, I want one

Here's a review http://www.tuningnews.net/news/040316/subaru-impreza-wr1.php

Lovely car and well sorted ... the only things I don't like are the colour :o and the price tag ;) I believe Litchfield's Spec C and Type-25 offerings are even quicker though and also have top notch handling thanks to Powerstation :D

Chris

316hp. 0-60:4.3 Top speed:155 but yeah, the colour doesn't really match the performance

Just realised my beetle is going to make that noise :D

I hadn't thought about that before.

I saw on of these the other day and thought the coler was stunning

actually made it look a lot classier sort of alfa romeo image

id have one look just like that if i was getting one

scoobys all lok the same now

not really aggresive as they used to

and getting bored of the same colors

I love the colour, something different!

They sound even nice though

Colour not color is the correct spelling. Sorry to be patronising but, as a teacher, I can't help myself!

The WR1 colour is a refreshing change from the usual WRC type blue with gold wheels ;)

That's the WRX STi model thta has those specs. Since when was it called the WR1?

WR1 was released to commemorate Petter Solbergh winning the WRC a coupl eof years ago.

Spec C isnt litchfield specific, its just the stripped out highest performing JDM model - Litchfields/Powerstation generally use that as the base for the T25.

T25 is much faster than a WR1 in my experience. So much torque...

My car (for sale - see sig :D ) stays dead with a WR1 from 0 to 150 (private racetrack!) Was extremely chuffed when it did, thanks to the work Powerstation did to it. And IMO the handling mods PS did to my car made it far more agile in the twisties than the stock WR1.

it's a Prodrive developed special edition released in 2004, as person up there said; it was created to celebrate Petter Solberg winning the 2003 World Rally Drivers' championship...so boo to you :P

:sofahide:

That colour is going to become a trademark just like the mmid-blue and gold alloys did. Just you wait!

The WR1 is basically a Jap Spec STi but has suspension and other bits tuned by prodrive for UK roads and octane levels, also has Prodrive engine mapping and tuning bits..

The standard UK Spec STi doesn't get dual scroll turbo, Driver Control Centre Differential and a few other nice bits are missing.

Cheers

Lee

so the WR1 is basically a proper STi then, and the STi Type UK is effectively a cut down version? the cheeky monkies :thumbdwn:

Definitely the one in the UK is cut down. We get the real thing here (:P), and I love the classic blue/gold combo colour. Sticks out in any crowd.

Japanese cars in Japan usually show off full power..to a certain extent... all have limiters fixed at 180km/h in Japan.
