Octavia Bolero - change aux in for MDI (armrest)

Featured Replies

Very pleased after owning my Octy for a month :-)

I'm not a fan of the SD card, just seems fiddly when I have an iPod ready to go. I'm keen to get my iPod working with the Bolero, ideally replacing the aux in with the MDI connection, keeping it in the armrest. This keeps the glovebox free for general car stuff that doesn't fit well in the armrest.

The MDI tray/connections look the same for glovebox and armrest versions. Are they, and is it the same cable lengths?

Also, I presume it's plug-and-play, with no VCDS required?

If it helps, Octy 2011 vrs 2.0 cr estate dsg (bit of a mouthful!)

You'll need VCDS to add MDI to the CAN list.

But it won't fit in the armrest without modifying parts quite a lot.

I spent ages researching it before I fitted mine.

That's very helpful, cheers.

I may sacrifice some glovebox space then and when it's in for the service I'll get the garage to enable it.
