drls as fogs?

Featured Replies

Just looking through skoda parts for a new foglight and saw the led ones which are used as drls but fit in the same place as the fogs.

Would i be able to use these instead of normal fogs on my 2006 vrs? I guess id need sone kind of wire adaptor from h8 to the led fog

Fit the LED DRL’s and then just code the car with VCDS so that it uses the fogs as DRL’s

cheers, I guess its the same coding used to stop led reversing bulbs flashing on start up is it?

Just emailed skodaparts about fitment but from google images it seems they have the same connector on the back as the halogen units. Not sure if they will fit a 2006 vrs though

The rear LED’s flash because the car is doing it’s bulb check,

you don’t normally see this as the power used to check them is not enough to make the filament bulb light up... but it’s enough to light an LED.

what coding would it need then?

Got a reply from skodaparts saying they dont know.

Is the fitment for a facelift round foglight different to a pre fl vrs?

AFAIK, you can use the rear section of the LED fog on the front of your original ones.

FYI, these are Fabia RS DRLs. I have a pair of these operating in place of the fog lights of my FL Octy RS. Look great!

Someone like Eddie-NL might be useful here, because I have a feeling the wiring to the fogs is different, pre-FL to FL.

The std fogs also have part numbers, if memory serves, which tells me either physical fitment is different, or the wiring connector, or both!

with regard to access etc.

Ive been out this morning (minutes before the rain started) and removed the lower grille (just the end piece) and got access to the clips holding the surround in place. Removed that and I can only see one screw.

Is this screw the only one you need to remove or do you need to remove the under tray to access the other screws?
