Long story short, put the passenger window down today, now it won't go back up or down, but there is a whirring sound from within the door, do I need a new window regulator or could it be fixed rather than replaced? Thanks.

Sounds like the motor is working, but the regulator is broken. You can get repair kits for them, but they're not quick or easy to fit, so a replacement regulator will be your best bet. I'm pretty sure EuroCarParts do them without the motor pretty cheap
