thermostat

Featured Replies

I think my thermostat is stuck open or temp sensor as takes ages to warm up then goes down to a quarter etc

But the issue is a steaming up windscreen I have no water leaks pollen fikter is ok I keep misting up it even struggles with air con on coukd the thermostat have issue with he climate control temps

If your suffering with lots of condensation, you've probably got water in the car somewhere. Are the floors wet? Spare wheel well in the boot wet?

Start the car, hold RPM at around 3K rpm so it warms up. Does the gauge get to 90 and cooling fan cuts in? Now drive it, if temps fall, thermostat stuck open

It never hits 90° i hardly drive the car but sometimes its fine next minute its steamed up no damp carpets or anything looked everywhere

Fit a genuine thermosat.  And make sure the car isnt on recirc,  Pollen filter dry?

I've got the same issue with steaming up. Replaced pollen filter and thermostat (gen), no water in car... yet still misting up.

Mine does warm up and get to 90 at a steady pace, so I don't think it's down to that. I think the key point you made was about "not driving the car much" - I don't do many miles in mine either, as I only work 5 mins away from home and don't really use it otherwise.

Doing a long commute, driving family about and other constant use would mean you'd have the blowers going for a lot longer and the whole car would get a decent drying out. However, if the car is left to sit for long periods, it won't be getting this.

I think the mist is just a case of damp in the air and fabric (not necessarily big puddles of water) but it's definitely worth investigating the temperature issue on your motor. It should be getting up to 90 and staying there.

Misting can be caused by low temps and possibly the recirc motor flap being stuck in recirc.  Do a diagnostic check on the climate control system and look for any codes.

Id recommend removing the glovebox/blower motor or the pollen filter and ensuring the flap is not stuck in recirc mode.

Remeber at 4c or below the climate control will not operate.  This is indicative of the fans not turning constantly in the engine bay and the idle revs of the engine staying the same.

ill double check the recirc as if I press that I cant hear it move should I be able to?

I bought the car in summer and I have a company car so it saits all week sometimes upto two weeks before i use it, I bought some condensation tubs on sunday and put them in last night to see if that helps while it is staionary and ive emailed my friend who works at tps today for a thermostat and temp sensor to be safe

Itll show as a fault code on the climatronic diagnostic 04FA I recall.

Yes you should hear it move as it moves a large flap.
