DSG Gear box Service

Featured Replies

Is there a set service time/mileage for DSG Gearbox?!?

Not on the 7 speed gearbox on a vRS.

Oh ok thank you!

Is it a sealed unit then as I just read that there have been recalls with it in China and Australia! Somebody mentioned that they used wrong transmission oil ie synthetic and bit should have been mineral or semi in there as the former was causing electrolysis in the box fusing it???

Was told if I did anything make sure ur oil in DSG was the correct type????

Im pretty sure its a dry box? could be wrong though

The 7 speed in the Fabia is Dry, the 6 speed version is Wet

There is oil sealed in a dry box. Just not next to the Dry Clutch Packs.

We are not in China or Australia.

They are recalling World Wide the boxes that might be effected.

We have the DQ200 fitted to the 132-136 kw 1.4 TSI. if they recall any we will no doubt be hearing.

**They should not supply or sell new vehicles that they know have parts that are already being recalled because of faults.

They should have the Vehicle fit for purpose with the revised parts or fluids in.

Otherwise they would be ignoring them selves.*

There are more recent articles than this on the boxes/cars that do need recalled.

Thanks for the info folks! Very informative! Guess the DSG is temp sensitive! Autocar article was eye opener!

I wonder if any Oz vRS drivers have had any issues?!

Had my vRS for a month nearly now to see if It has Launch Control?'!????

No launch control on the 7 speed box. It is possible with a DSG remap but I wouldn't advise it.

As above the 7 speed does have oil in obviously but unlike the 6 speed DSG the clutch pack is dry. The 6 speed is able to slip the clutches as they are lubricated with oil but the 7 speed is similar to a manual gearbox clutch that it's dry and clutch slip is going to cause wear to the clutch surfaces.

No it does not have launch control.  but it is possible to launch without wheel spin,

Practice, good tyres & good surface.

(TC off, or it can kill the Engine power, and be careful if a foot on the brake and throttle,

because that can also cut the power.)

This might break your gearbox that is fitted to your CTHE engine, if you try this,

but you might want to try instead of just flooring it in , 'D' 'S' or Manual.

Put it in '1' manual then boot it, and when its fast enough in 4th, it changes up its self, 2nd, 3rd, 4th,

then you need to shift to 5th manually.
