Passenger electric window not working.

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Noticed the other day that my passenger electric window is suddenly dead- i.e. does not open or close- the button does not make anything happen at all.

This seems to have started after I accidentally pressed the button for the passenger window on a very icy morning, before I had defrosted the window (hence a not very happy sounding window as it was opened). On this day it closed fine, but then has not worked since.

Does this sound to you like it could be a blown fuse? I am hoping nothing more expensive than this!

Cheers,

Well if it survived the initial struggle against the ice, the fuse seems a little unlikely, but worth checking anyway .  According to this massively helpful post, fuse 58, bottom row middle, 25A rating should be the one to examine.

Is there a whirring noise from inside the door?

If so I'd suggest that the regulator has gone.

You may be lucky and have the one that just unbolts, and a new cassette put in.

If you're unlucky (like swmbo's last vRS) it was riveted together, so the old rivets have to be drilled out, the part replaced, and re-riveted = increased cost.

Hope it's the fuse!

Weirdly, it randomly started to work and has been fine ever since! Guessing there's a loose connection, will check that another day!
