DECAT and Lambdas

Featured Replies

A quick question for those that might know.

I am going to be replacing my exhaust with a bespoke system, this will mean the cat is for the chop too, question I have is this.

When the cat is removed the post cat Lambdas will be reading exactly the same as the pre cat Lambdas, when I had a dead Lambda the engine management set the car on in limp mode, also caused tick over to be at 1100rpm.

If I remove the cat I am sure this problem will represent itself, does anybody know how I can over come this issue?

Is it possible to disable the post cat Lambdas?

The V6 has two cats and four Lamda sensors! A little excessive IMO.

Car will not be on the road in the future as too many things have been removed to improve it for track use.

Believe the second 02 sensor(s) can be disabled in the mapping.

Other than mapping maybe a crude resistor mod?

Some people put some kind of extension tube between cat and sensor to space it out

I have seen these Toxicvrs but would prefer them to be coded out completely, as faboka says above, there are 4 lambda sensors on the Golf so loosing two can only be a good thing.

Ahh yeah
