I am looking into buying a vagcom, or vagcom cable and whatnot.

Is there a particular kind or type that I need for a Vrs mk 1?

Any info would be appreciated.

I have the hex-usb+can cable. I find it very useful, and has more than paid for itself in the time i've had it.

 

However, if you want to find more info, you'd be better off looking in the diagnostics & VCDS section on here.

dave190 - what year is your Octavia?

 

if its a pre 2004 - the cheap £20 cables from ebay etc shoud work on it.... but they only come with the free VAG-Com software (now called VCDS).

useful but a bit limited... if its newer than that, you need e new CAN versions to get at all the modules.
