Boot seal wet

Featured Replies

I have noticed when it has been raining and i open my boot that the seal is wet all around. No water seems to be on the inside from what i see.

Is this normal?

Check your spare wheel well.

There are a few threads on this subject .

If you look at the seal the drain hole are at the top allowing the water to remain in the seal or to go into boot .

I took a knife and cut slits in the bottom of seal to let water out .

Cheers whoosh

i made some holes with a braddel the other week. It made it better but didnt cure it, you need some decent size holes i'd imagine

A week or two ago I found about an inch of water under the spare wheel again and cleaned it out. I didn't think the "making a hole in boot lid seal" would do much but, using a scalpel, I cut a small slot in the lowest part, just by the lock catch. The slot is about half an inch long and an eighth of an inch wide.

Since then we have had all the usual downpours, and been on a fairly long wet drive. I checked under the spare today and it was bone dry.

I'll be interested to see if this keeps up!
