My first vrs

if you have in 10 gallons or 45.5 litres and then use up 9 gallons and it has a gallon left in the tank,

then you got an average 33 mpg, even with Dyno Time.

You can vent the tank and get 55 litres in,

so it depends if you brimmed the Tank, or vent.

But you might find if you were doing 35 mpg from each gallon and the car has 10 gallons at the start,

it says 50 mile range, but could go 70 miles.more.

If you got 300 miles from 8 gallons then that is 37.5 MPG,  which is about normal for me over several tankfuls,

easy driving and playing/having fun.

Playing can empty a tank in 200 miles and driving sensibly 500 miles from a vented tank,

or 420-450 miles with a brimmed tank.

  • Well car is now back home after a slight detour through the Leicestershire countryside , initial impression I'm very impressed by the car , needs better front tyres but I'm guessing the previous owner

  • Have you got full details about its history and if any warranty work has been done?   I don't want to alarm anyone it's just that I've been caught out on the Fabia vRS I've just bought with regard t

Well it literally came on as I was parking so not gone through 10 otherwise the car would be completely out , I did it till the pump clicked

How do you vent it by the way? And is there any problems this can cause?

  • Author

Just filled up and put 38 litres in and that was 300 miles , so around 35.9 per gallon, not as low as I first thought then , so apparently still had 8 litres in even though it was in the red

From the petrol pump clicking off i can still get 1 gallon in, then venting at least 1 gallon more.

The Range left showing depends on the Fuel Consumption the car was registering before it comes on.

eg

Showing 50 mile range, but might only take 40 litres in Brimming it,

and then another gallon plus venting.

Do you just depress the black plunger that is just inside the filler neck?

No it is a green button.

EDIT, yes sorry Black Button/slide/plunger on the Green Plastic.

move it and hear the pressure release, do it once or twice and you keep getting more fuel in.

But then you need to use that fuel up before parking up, because there is no expansion space left as the temperature might change during the day.

Useful for getting more range from the tank between refuels, but not unless using that first extra gallon up.

That is dangerous.

Yeah I do that on the lupo ,can get loads more in that way,I'll do that when I'm doing a long trip I think, still very impressed with the power ,just need the handling to be improved :( rolls so much compared to the lupo

Right , car is booked in for badges to be replaced tomorrow and to look at misfire , what should I ask them about the Ecu update? Even if they can't find a fault I may replace the spark plugs for the ones recommended on the forum

Just ask if your particular car is due a ECU Update, or was there one done previous according to the Computer record.

They are putting it on VAS anyway to read any codes and see if there is a Misfire,

but i have driven ones with a MIsfire and a burnt out plug and nothing showed on the Diagnostics.

Skoda Dealerships usually quote a stupid high price to change Spark plugs.

  • Author

I've just been outside to check it from stone cold and it's still missing up to at least 60 degrees water temp ,pretty convinced it is a plug fault, when we tried it on the diagnostics last week it doesn't come up with anything,so I'm guessing it won't tomorrow either.

Really want to get it sorted before I lose faith in the car ,never had a new (ish) car ,other than this so want it to be running 100%

  • Author

What would you suggest it to be then cus I'm lost on this, runs fine when warm but not on warm up,which seemed to be the symptoms of bad spark right?

It may well just need the ECU update to have it running correctly, because that was why there was an Update.

I really do not expect it to be the Spark Plugs, or cylinder 3's Spark Plug because on the Dyno you would have had the EPC light on,

or the Engine Emission light,

Only going by the most common problems, and possibilities, but then you are going to find out when they check hopefully.

I'll ask them about it when I go in tomorrow then,do you know when this update was issued?

Surprised the previous owner hadn't requested anything to be done about the problem, probably made worse by the freezing temperatures we are getting too

How freezing are you, it is -3*oC here now.  My car will start and run the same as if it was 23*oC

A Twincharger is just fine starting all the way below -10*oC.

But it must be something wrong if you are so aware of it misfiring.

It's been around 0-2 degrees when I'm starting up , just got to work and even when the engine is hot it still seems a bit like it's hunting for revs around 800rpm

Getting pretty annoying now to be honest

  • Author

At skoda now , nothing in fault memory ( which I knew) but there is two software updates so hopefully that might sort it , wander why rainsworth didn't pick up on that ?

Was loosing faith to be honest :( so fingers crossed all is well :)

On a lighter note , genuinely had the technician say to me

" you do know the car has a super charger and turbocharger ?"

My answer was

" yes , as it's my car

Getting the car back in around 30-45 mins though :)

Had the update and car Is the same :( gonna run a few tanks of v power through it then rebook it in

  • 1 month later...

Any Update on how you got on?

  • Author

Well took it back and they found nothing, ran it for a few weeks with no change.

Had an itg induction fitted Friday and the breather that goes to the intake was apparently fitted the wrong way.

Since rectifying this is it not juddering at all

Also on the way back the car completely cut out whilst low speed up a hill, any one else experienced there car completely dying on them?

Had no lights or warning it was going to happen and hasn't happened since, seemed like a lack of fuel as it stuttered before cutting out,it had 3/4 tank of v power in at the time

  • Author

Picked up an itg induction kit at the weekend but thinking of selling due to needing the cash,I know it should be in the for sale bit but not sure if I can post there ,feel free to message me about it.

On the plus side car hasn't been playing up today :)
