Plenty of guides on YouTube for 1.8T thermostats. I've watched them, some remove alternator some don't.

It's on my job list.

Update... 

 

Misplaced my quart drive set :-(

So prodded on with my 3/8 drive and some extension.... job done. Fiddly isn't the word chaps, I don't feel that word quite covers it lol

I'm used to wedging big straight 6's into e30' s which is tight to say the least.. But the stat on a 20vt is a dif kind of tight.! :-o lol
