18" on Octy 4x4

Featured Replies

Considering putting 4 X 8 X 18" 5X100 ET35 ALLOY WHEELS with

225/40/18 on my mk1 4x4 Octy instead of the standard 16" alloys is this a good idea? Use the car sometimes off-road and for towing

Thanks

I wouldn't if your going to tow with it.

My vrs hatch with std suspension, has 8x18 et35 wheels with 225 40 18 Avon tyres and they rubbed on the outside edge of the rear arches when we put some luggage in the boot.

Normally its not a problem, because from new the car has only ever been used as a dry summer day toy and other than the missus, never carries any other passengers, shopping, luggage etc.

Thanks for that is it worth trying 17" or should I stick with 16" and keep the clearance?

Maybe just buy some smarter 16" alloys.

Ben

You didn't say if your 4x4 was a hatch or estate, but isn't clearance also the reason why they fitted 16" wheels on the VRS estate and 17" on the hatch from new...?
