Having owned a Passat , Kombi and Golf in my motoring past I moved into Subarus and had good service from two successive Liberties.

But when the second one wore out and was about to start costing me big $$$ my heart swung back to Europe. The Octavia wagon had caught my eye some time ago as a practical all round jigger. I was and still am puzzled by the engine options, way too many. But I happened upon a near new 2012 Octavia 118 TSI auto wagon which was a very low mileage demonstrator at a $10k saving over the new model. Have owned this now for 3 months and it has proven to be everything I had hoped for. Great performance and economy as well as roomy and comfortable. Having just now read the engine failures in the VRS 2 litre in your thread I am pleased I went for the tried and true 1.8 petrol turbo with the old fashion chain driven camshaft. Old fashioned, yes, but it works and has done long service in the GTI Golf, Audi A4 and Passat without fuss or trouble, good choice me!! My only question being , how long before the rest of the motoring world wakes up to what great cars these are??

Welcome :)
