Boot won't open

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia Estate 2006. I can't get the boot open. When I press the button on the key there is the usual whirring noise around the catch but it does not open. Any advice on this one? My dog would like to know!

Thanks in advance

Try the manual release by crawling into the boot and flicking up the plastic cover by the latch (as per the manual). Then I gave my lock and latch mechanisms a liberal dose of wd40 which worked a treat.

Theres a plastic "T piece" that fits on the end of the actuator for the lock. This fell off on mine, but you could still hear the mechanism doing its thing when unlocked via the key fob. Once you get the boot open from the inside, you may have to remove the plastic trim around the lock to find this piece of plastic and refit.

Thanks for the advice so far. I've tried the WD40 trick but no good. The boot opens occasionally with the fob which suggests that all the parts are in place. But mostly it sounds as if the motor is just struggling, almost as if the battery were flat - which it isn't. So is this a matter of replacing the motor? I'm wondering what is involved with that. Sounds expensive....
