The rear parking sensors on my 55 reg Octy Estate have failed. I have read the forums that tell me that you should be able to hear the good sensors ticking or even feel them vibrating, all to no avail. That is apart from the neighbours thinking I have gone funny when they saw me on my hands and knees with an ear pressed up against the rear bumper!!

I also tried this on my wife's Fabia that has working sensors and still could not hear or feel anything.

My question is : is there any other way of telling which sensor is faulty and also how do I get to the parking module to check on an estate car? Does anybody have diagrams or pictures of how to get behind the trim in the load space. Any info would be appreciated, many thanks, T

if none of the sensors are clicking i would guess parking control unit as its unlikely all 4 would fail

 

got a scan of the car? it will tell you which sensors are faulty in VCDS..  or give a fault for the controller

 

 

 

 

give me a shout if you need a replacement PDC unit as i have one for sale in the for sale section.

Does your reverse lights still work?

willydog might be insinuating that the reverse switch might have broken so your car does not know it's in reverse and actually activate the sensors.

There are several reports of screenwash leaking onto the PDC controller.

I've posted the trim removal diagrams on here before. Have a search. I can't post again as I'm on my phone at the moment.

Latest update, not only were the parking sensors playing up, but the ABS warning light came on. Oh dear, I thought. The ABS seems to have rectified it's self so having unsuccessfully tried the hair dryer idea, today I went out armed with toolbag and swear words ready to sort out the sensors. Amazingly they are now working. I think it must have been the soaking they got the other day when we where caught out driving in a cloudburst that had got into everything. It just goes to show the power of procrastination !!

Even I have the same issue. My octy's rear parking sensors aren't working. When I slot the reverse gear i hear some kind of sound but no ticking sound of the sensors.
