One thing that could be said for Honda is that the engines are absolutely bombproof, you can abuse them to death. However anything with that sort of mileage is pot luck anyway.

Oh also he says it needs a new thermostat which he says he will include in the sale or swap.

are they more reliable than German engine or equivalent.i quite fancy one never had a honda before and guessing it's a 1.6 it won't be to harsh on fuel.

He want £1500 for it wat use rekon guys

Jeez £1500 he must live on another planet. It's not anything special, it's a 16 year old scrapyard dodger. But yes honda engines are right up there in terms of durability..

Lol wat would u rekon it's worth mate a don't wanna be getting ripped off here lol.

He says he'd swap me for my octy but really getting doubts

I think you'd be sorely disappointed if you swapped that for your octavia. You would change your mind as soon as you got to the nd of the road.

My octy is needing some work though and just can't afford to keep sorting it really smoky wen starting it up so dnt no if that could be the turbo on its way out or not

Also the boost is fluctuating crazy when on full boost goes right pass 20psi then goes down to like 10 then straight back to 20 as if I am taking my for off the accelerator :-(

Recommend checking the fault codes for boost fluctuation issues, probably just a poorly n75 valve, fairly common failure on 1.8t engines. Either that or the re-circ valve might be leaking.

Would that cause the smokey on start up then? It's not all the time just the odd time the smell of burnt oil?

The other week it was low so halfords was closed at the closest place was asda n they only had there own stuff 5/30 fully a wouldn't think that would cause it to smoke because it's a cheap brand surely

It's a possibility that a split recirc valve could cause it yes, the intake/breather gets pressurised and the oil vapour has to go somewhere. I could be wrong though, it's worth getting somebody to have a look at it tbh.

Stick with your octy. Honda engines are good but with high miles and no proof of looking after its a risk.

Thats not even a proper VTI-S

The UK VTI-S only EVER came in 1 colour Pirates Black Pearl or its a Jap Import..... Honda made a bodge up on some log books claiming some "Standard" VTI's as VTI-S's, the log book and insurance say its a VTI-S but it has none of the optional extra's of a VTI-S.

They are 160hp standard and are nippy, However they are bumpy, crashy, and rattle like nothing else, engine will be fine but expect stem seals to go soon if they havent been changed and expect the pistonrings to be on the list in the near future.

These VTI's are really starting to rot away now so expect rust on the rear quarter arches, bottom of the sills on the quarters, and on the front wings, Expect window regulators to burn out or get stuck, and factor in a new central locking system 99% of these cars central locking will stop.

I know all this because iv had a more than a few!

Regarding your Octavia. Have you done a fault code check?? anything is useless with these car if you haven't, your boost fluctuations could be a split breather or Vac pipe, N75 or a faulty Recirc valve.

Smokey on start up is the biggest worry, that could be the premature signs of turbo failure. However id get it on some ramps and see if the turbo looks to be leaking any oil from the cold side turbine wheel.

Id also take out your intercooler and pancake pipe and check for oil inside them that could be the problem.

i got offered a ek vti for my octy lpg not long ago asked him to throw a wod of notes my way otherwise get on your bike :giggle: Dont get me wrong Hondas are lovely cars.. but mojority of them have been ragged to the end of its life with them being high reving.. Be careful with the white CTR its either JDM import or its a replica and they might blag you its a JDM model. If its a proper JDM model it WILL have 220hp and a LSD engine code K20A

Oh yeh its a UK model resprayed white.. aparently its still kicking out 220hp but i doubt that very much.. paint jobs pretty good on it just got a feeling its been in a little crash thats why they painted it white..  its gopt abit of black showing inside the arches but thats nothing major.. its worth more then my octy i guess so if its all straight im on to a winner :P was originally going to give him my 53 facelift leon cupra but he wants the octy.. daft kid :giggle:

Never trust anyone saying "It has this much Hp" without a dyno printout... Especially Honda owners!  :giggle: Most will say theyve added 20hp from a powerflow exhaust and 10hp from a K&N filter...

You'll regret it !

Regards with EP3 Type R's

Always check the cam chain tensioners been done after 80K and obv the usual service history

If a Honda has had infrequent oil quality and changes with all filters i can put money on that it will be a bag of spanners. Hondas like to run on the same oil again and again. With them being high revving if you ever test drive it ALWAYS get it up in the rev range, i hate it when people drive a CTR and poodle it about to then find out Vtec doesnt engage properly or it smokes like hell on vtec.
