Never realy thought I'd want one but I do!

Featured Replies

Just went to fill up the Skoda and there was one of these in the mirror http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXRKsxrlNCA . It was a sort of European middle aged beige, had a full set of Cibie Oscars, roll cage and a rally plate. I was not in a position to flag him down but would have loved to chew the fat.

In the late sixties these little machines provided brilliant flat out motoring spectacles on rallies, it was worth standing in Welsh forests all night just to see their antics.

I drove a standard one quite often in the early seventies it was great fun but laughed at as were Skodas - they didn't know what they were missing - I've always fancied a Rapid Coupe for trialling but never had the cash.

Anyone else got a funny motoring perversion..

I seem to remember a joke that the 33 or 66 referred to their top end.

Weren't the variomatics belt driven?

Gaz

I think that they were belt driven to each rear wheel with no need for a differential as the gearing would change to each wheel automatically and they could go as fast in reverse as they could going forwards.
