Golf mk4 aero wipers missing a spot

Featured Replies

I have had these wiper arms and wipers for approximately 1 year and tried 3 different sets of blades but to no avail.

Between 0-30 mph the wipes are fine but above 30 they start missing a spot on the windscreen right in front of my eyeline.

When I get to motorway speeds it is missing an even larger spot on the screen.

Has anybody else had this problem and if so how did you cure it?

My old wipers worked okay but I bought these as I thought they would be even better.

When I fitted the wiper arms they we're tightened using a torque wrench.

Thanks

My Yeti does this, a slight bend of the metal arm so as the spring has a bit more load on helps stop it happening.

Okay thanks do you mean bend the arm slightly away from the screen?

I think this is why some blades have those spoilers on, so it pushes it down on to the screen. Have you tried rotating the blades?

P.s saw you again the other day but your always in a world of your own lol

I get this too - tried changing the blade and the arm. I decided to live with it :D

i've had the same problem with cheap aero wipers, but never with genuine Bosch/VAG.

Genuine wiper or the Goodyear ones they sell at Costco are good. Make sure the wiper blade is the right way up or try turning it around if you can.

Same cure, bend the arms a little toward the screen on the kinked bit.puts more pressure on the middle section which misses the curve of the screen, a bit of trial and error may be needed.

Just swapped the wipers over and it has sorted the problem. Looks like I will have to order a 19" blade for the wipers side rather than a 21" blade that is standard

Problem now sorted I received a new 19" Bosch aero twin wiper through the post and fitted it to the drivers side. It's normally 19" passenger side and 21" drivers side.

After a good drive on the motorway at 70+ in the pouring rain I can confirm that the change of wiper size has solved the problem as it no longer misses a large patch on the screen and wipes perfectly which it never did with the 21" blade.

drive on the motorway at 70+

 surely not officer :P

Just use Rain-X on the screen then no need for wipers above 30 mph
