Who will win Car of the Year 2014 (CotY 2014)

Featured Replies

Skoda is turning into a real pedigree, gathering more awards than top flight football club.On top of winning WHATCAR Car of the Year2014 awards, Best family car 2014 - The Skoda Octavia could also be crowned European Car of the Year 2014, already nominated in last 7 NOMINEES (CotY 2014).

The jury is looking for 'the most outstanding new car to go on sale in the last 12 months'.

The winner will be announced on 3 March 2014, at the Geneva motor show.

The Skoda Octavia has already got further than some really class models, but who do you think will win?

Another reason why I went for this car. Crossy fingers ... will only add value to the car.

It's just motor industry politics. If it was a song contest, it'd be the Eurovision.

Don't let the fact that a certain car wins change your perception of it.

PS, fwiw, the BMW i3 stands a good chance based on the advertising spend I've seen on it ;)

Well lets hope that the politics are in our favor this Year, can only help increase our ROI

Lets hope it's not a case of France 10 points and runaway victory for the 308

That was the reason why I didn't go for a Jaguar F-Type, Maserati, Mercedes, Porsche or Range Rover Sport

LOOOOSERRRRRS as Messer Clarkson would say

And if the Skoda doesn't win I will think about cancelling my order.

Little under 2 weeks to go now before super Skoda wins the European cup !!

:$$$: :$$$: :$$$:

Asking people in a Skoda forum to vote for another car make makes it a just a tad biased/flawed.....

I voted for the Picasso because we have a Citroen as well + very innovative compared to VAG these days

Whooa! What happened to that BMW? Technologically advanced it may be, but it's like a lass who would cook you a great breakfast, but would you want to still be there when sober..... :giggle:

And as we all know its just eat the breakfast and snap a photo of the lady on the way outta the door.  Whatta mean why the photo, don't you play "pulla pig" in your pub just like a new skoda, no photo, it didn't happen.

I'm surprised the lens on the camera that took the picture of that BMW didn't shattered.

What?

Sorry...I don't understand you at all

It's true the BMW I3 has definitely been touched with an ugly stick. If that wins it would be the equivalent of making Miss Piggy from the Muppets miss World.

Mazda 3 is too boring, small. I loved the Mazda 6 before but this is just so dated for the European market. Exterior matches the interior - just not visionary and all too uninteresting. Smoking HOT, more like smoking NOT. Top dash GPS's are so old. Fully integrated is the way to go and expected today.

Your typical Penthouse on wheels but the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is not a stunning eye catcher, which it should be for that price. Very cumbersome and far too expensive unless you are a banker.

The Peugeot 308 has improved styling but is still very bland. All a bit too small and cramped in the interior, especially in the back. Gives feeling of a lower grade VW Golf imitation not at all something new and different.

Not bad looking with the 21in wheels but Tesla S is just not a practical enough car. Limitations of distance, not very user friendly with storage compartments, unless you want to put your water bottle under the hood,... and that large tablet console.. just over-sized. I thought wouldn't it be great to have a real tablet in the car.. well this is living proof -no. And you're supposed to use it to control everything, even the switching on and off the lights, yes like that’s going to work, taking your eyes off the road to search for the bottom of the huge display. Very Hazardous. Tip: save battery, turn down screen brightness.

The Citroën C4 Picasso not bad family car but stuck in a rut with the design and a bit small and cramped. Why put the speedo in the center? Just handicaps more the driver - no advantage. Bottom line it just doesn't compare up against the Skoda Octavia as the best car for the family.

There's only one clear winner - the Skoda Octavia. Excellent all round value for money, practicality, reliability, functions & options, performance, economy, design, after sales service and FUN to drive. You name it - just most likely car that people will buy in 2014. It's not perfect but has less major flaws than the others.

Yes and I know, this is only my opinion and we all know what opinions are like as so nicely put by "James Blunt on Top Gear 2014"

One week to go now (announced 3rd March) - last chances to pick your winner...

Hmmmmm.  3rd of March is a Monday in the UK, not sure about the rest of Europe.

I knew I'd seen the BMW i3 somewhere before...

Finally we near the winning post. Who's it going to be?

Which one could you see cabbies driving?

I like the Bmw at least it is different. The Mk3 Octavia is the Golf copy. The joke fake exhaust and engine noise synthesizer put me off and the inflated price tag

Well if you like inflated price tags for a Golf copy a std non perf pack Golf GTI is $61k vs $47k for a TSI VRS over here in NZ!

Just about every magazine and website test I've read has the Mk 7 GTI as the best thing since sliced bread for its versatility and practicability aspects.

I'm continually stunned because how can the bigger VRS with the same running gear, much more specification as standard and a $14,000 price saving not win by default then if it is pretty much the exact same car, based on that logic??!!

Think the BMW will win this.

I don't know who will win, Mazda, BMW, ... but hopefully Skoda.

One thing I do know, it won't be the Golf this year.

TSI doesn't have fake exhausts, only the TDI does, like the "fake" GOLF
