Black Octavia vRS Estate

Morning all,

Will post a few pics later of the car in question.

The idea is to keep it fairly OE and add the odd thing to it.

It needs some basic maintenance to it, a wheel bearing, sump filter change (and clean) a proper service, the driver's window dosnt work (you can hear the motor but glass dosnt move, so need to pop the door card off when it stops raining).

I am after a dog guard, boot floor cover (ebay etc) the rear spoiler painting (anyone got one for sale?) and a few other bits as I go along.

Mine has a dog guard I don't want/need. Has a boot mat... But I want that.

Forgot all about this, time flies etc etc

So since I first posted this:

Wheel bearing done.

Sump dropped and oil strainer changed.

A service was done, new oil filter, pollen filter, usual.

New tyres fitted.

Went to Skoda and got new mats for it, so the original vRS mats put to one side.

The exhaust has always hung low, so today I fitted brand new OE rear bracket and have the middle one to fit, the bolts removed and done an Ed China on them.

New OE number plate lenses fitted, small thing but nice and new shiny things.

Things to do (still) sort the drivers window out.

And other than keeping on top of things till it sells (or I keep it), thats it really, but will do the odd thing as I go, new bulbs because I can and no doubt will find other little bits to do as well.

Just waiting for a few pics to load.

So some pics of todays clean.

Arches, wheels, tyres cleaned first, this way your not spraying any dirt onto clean paintwork if you wash the car first.

Wheel turned to make it easier to clean "pancake" and back of alloy.

Products used: G101 (10-1) for arches & tyres. Fallout remover for wheels.

De-greaser followed the APC to make sure tyres clean.

Can't beat a Snow Foam pic can you.

A "basic" shampoo, no gloss enhancer, no wax, just a pure shampoo.

(With a clean alloy photo bombing)

Making sure various bits are cleaned.

Shuts, engine bay, fuel cap etc all cleaned with an APC at 10-1.

Didn't go mad on the engine bay, various things I would like to replace. Cleaned with APC at 10:1, rinsed off then plastics and rubber sprayed with AutoGlym, ALL paintwork, that includes the underneath of the bonnet and all edges, given a nice layer of Carlack.

Some bolts and screws Ed China"ed"

Windscreen plastic covers cleaned and given some AutoGlym Plastic Conditioner, rubber seal Swissvax.

Making sure under the bumpers are also protected. Carlack again.

Door locks and exhaust tail cleaned with Optimum Metal Polish. Forgot to take a before.

Finished. If its got paint it go Carlack (so door shuts, bonnet shuts, fuel cap, wheels etc. Tyres with ArtdeShine.

Got some Caliper Paint off ebay, dosn't look that far off the right colour.

Pity it's raining.

Cambelt and Water pump done, clips and screws picked up.

It's not an exciting update nor project, it's just a daily!

Really nice work. what's the Mk1 Octavia estate like to live with? Is there anything that goes pear-shaped on these? I'm looking to buy a Skoda estate (fancied a Mk1 Fabby, but the Octavia has turned my head!) in diesel flavour, as a daily to replace my Hyundai i20, when it's PCP runs out. I fear that the Octavia might be a little bit on the big size, but hey ho! Many thanks :)
