Maxidot retrofit pre-fl DSG

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

I've tried searching a few times but cannot find anything on my specific query.

My car is an MY08 1.9 PD DSG.

It currently has this dash:

I am looking at fitting a used maxidot.

I have found one from a 2008 2.0 PD140 Manual (is £160 a good price?).

Someone has suggested to me that I would actually need to get one from a DSG car to get the gear indicator etc.

Is this true or are they the same for manual and DSG cars?

Many Thanks

Phil

As I told you when you sent me a message, they all will fit ok manual or DSG. The gateway and DSG ECU makes the display show in the screen.

Only you can decide if £160 is a good price, it is cheap compared to the new price

Hi,

Well that's what I assumed as you hadn't warned me to get a 'DSG specific' one or anything.

Just like I said someone on facebook said that I need to get one from a DSG...

I shall ignore them then! lol

Once the funds allow I will get one.

But when you change used and code it to the car, how does the mileage change?

Okay, i have always thought that if you want old kilometres to new cluster, the cluster should really be new.

Now i can look used maxidot cluster for my pre-fl too.

Just bought a Maxidot cluster from a 2008 1.9 bxe for £60.

Hopefully be in touch with you soon regarding fitting Eddie.

Can dealer change it and code it so that the old mileage stays?

They should be able to but will depend on the software they have.

They may say they can't but don't realise they can.

My friend works at stealership as a skoda mechanic and he believes that they cant code used cluster so that the cars original mileage stays. So if someone could give me a hint what to tell him so he could code used one for my car.

They may not be able to.

They use a different tool to what is available to the public (vas or something I think).

I know that Vag-tacho can do it so if you can find someone local to you that can programme new keys in they may have the tools to do it.

I guess any of the "mileage correction" providers you see advertised should also be able to correct your new cluster.

All the immobiliser information is stored in the cluster, and needs to be properly coded before the car will even start.

Ahh, I didn't realise this.
