  • 'Twas me   They are still fine

  • I think that would of been the last straw if I hacked away at my bumper in the house lol. All my mess is out and my mother had it back for about a month and was very happy, now my brother has take ove

  • I've noticed they transmit a slight bit more vibration but my car is just a bog-standard Fabia MPI and it still feels fine with them on.

Did a pair of Meyle ones on a Fabia today. All went OK. Glad I got a ratchet strap though, don't think I'd have got the wishbones in the new bushes without it!

its a 1hr job tops if everything comes out as it should, old bushes are easy to remove just hammer and piece of wood from behind and the slide out with the bottom arm

Cool, thanks got a chap coming over to do them next week...

Mobile mechanic:

£60 both sides done in 1 hr 20!

Had a special tool for the bushes - better than Skoda dealers £211 or £278

Nice one, did you just get the improved Skoda original bushes?

I did yeah! Heard some stuff about heavy vibrations from others so thought I'd go original. Just took it out. Like a different car!

Excellent :)

Next. The airbag light issue!

Sorry to revive an old thread.

To those of you who have tried non-standard bushings, now you've been driving a few months on them, how would you rate them?

I'm trying to decide between fitting the PSB poly bushes and the Seat Cupra ones. It sounds like the PSB poly bushes are easier to fit and that's a huge plus for me!

Thanks.

(Seat cupra bushings thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/92625-fabia-wishbone-bush-replacement-diy-guide/)

I've fitted both, I found little difference between them for noise and driving quality, but others have. I have 15" alloys with decent tyres though.

Cupra ones are a nightmare to fit DIY without the proper tool, PBS ones just push in with your hand or a light tap with a hammer.

Thanks for the quick reply hutchy.

Do I take it you fitted standard ones, they failed, and then you installed the PBS ones? How long did the standard ones last?

I'm a little anxious about reports of squeaking on poly bushes, I assume you don't have that problem. Do you remember where you got yours from?

I've never fitted standard, I've always known it to be a common fault because of this forum so changed them for cupra bushes.

I then sold the car and got another Fabia with the same problem so tried pbs ones and found them excellent, I've fitted two sets of pbs now, put them on another members car last year.

Never heard any noise from them but always apply the red rubber grease for ease of fitting so that would prevent any noise anyway.

How about the superpro bushes? Are they a pita to fit ?

Another thumbs up for the PSB bushes, done 5k with them in now and notice no difference to standard vibration wise.

Same as above.

There will be very little difference other than cost.

Their is a thread about which someone has gone into detail about the differences between them.

Sounds like the PSB bushes are the way to go. I've seen some generic comparisons but none specific to this car.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is how my bushes look like after ~30.000km and who knows how many from the previous owner:

First- SIL & his mate did mine on a 14TDI- Old bush came out with no problems ,as it's not metallastic, but a plastic version. But for those who've done one side and lost/etc the grease, here's a reply form Powerflex "The grease we supply is just a commonly sourced copper grease, this can be found at most Auto Factors.

Alternatively you could use a PTFE/Silicone grease which will also work well."..

NICE to know a supplier is not short of a supply on requests.
