215/40/18's on a 8j rim?

Featured Replies

has anyone got any pics of a 215 on an 8j 18" rim as my car is very low and dont want to rip arches to bits with 225's. currently on stock 205/17's

Sure there's a website called tyre stretch with pictures on

Speak to Lloyd ;)

Mine are 215's on 8.5j

You might get a little stretch if that's what your after.

I had 215/35/19s on 8j

Was just a sneaky stretch

Depends if u wana run a 35/18

Dunno what youd get on 215/40 on a 8 as you'd have a bit more wall to eat any stretch

Youd defo save abit of space but i dunno if it would pull the sidewall to give you any extra

If you wana run decked then go 215/35

You'd be on a narrower tyre for 1 and toud get a lil stretch to get it in away bud

The only down side is on a direct side view the tyre would look abit un arch filling each side

Do u have coilovers that drop more than 65mm

Its a 19 but heres a 215/35 on a 8

If its rear clearance your after then camber shims are the way forward :)

Front arches can be rolled :)

Not much to do on rears but a sneaky camber will just push the top in

Also a option

I know nankang, they do the AS-1 in a 205/40/18 its got a bit more sidewall that a 215/35 and would give a cheeky stretch

What offset are the rims bud ?

If you are gona look at a stretch you'd not want them sunk to far in the arch :)

ive been told i can buy them in a choice of 35mm or 45mm offset need to check what my stock vrs alloys are before ordering. and its dropped about 50 rear 60 front.

If there the 17" spiders iirc they are et38 so 35 would be fine.

The lower the number the further they'll stick out and the opposite for higher numbers

I know its 17" but I run 215/40 R17 on an 8J rim and it's just "nice" not stretch but looks good in proportion.

Et35 bud is what u want

215/40/18 youd have no issues

U can get them oretty low on et35 8x18 225/40/18 tbh

If u popped abit of rear camber you could stay 225s if wanted

But id go no smaller than 215/40/18 with et35 :)

Anyone fitted them camber shims? I debated it as im running 225/40/18 on a 8.5j rim and thought either camber shims or 215/40s

I wound mine rite down on weitecs, so 65mm

Front rims are a et30 8.5x18 now 215/40/18

So a et35 ud be even more so

I did drop the rear but its running excess camber so its not a fair comment

Even with the -1 shims its got a total -2 rear camber and its all bar a turn rite down on 225/40/18s but thats on et35 9.5s

You'll be fine mate, if u want it looooow go 215/40/18

Theres just not much choice in tyre

Toyo do the t1sport £140

Falken do ze914s £100 ish

Cheaper end is the achillies atr that got a nice look about £45/£50

I run -1 camber

I actually have my old -0.5 i took off for sale at mo

Not huge but may get 3-5mm in at the top

Heres -1 shims

19s tho

Et30 8x19

Mine are et35 but 8.5j 18s

Just want to be able to keep the rear down without scuffing arches

Ick i spy dirt maximus and missed wax lurking :D

Tut tut mustve been in a rush :(

Ashamed :D

£15 i changed it to bud

Its only -0.5 shims so not huge

I got some caliper spacer shims to but tbh metal washers r better

I did put the 0.5 on to but -2.5 was abit much :D

How simple are they to fit? I just want a bit of camber to get the rear down as I have 15mm spacers on too ;)
