M6 toll road

Featured Replies

Went down this and back for the first time on Saturday

I likeeeeeeeee :)

Are those green cameras that hang down from a couple of bridges for speed fines or do they just monitor stuff? :(

Damn 6th gear

all it needs is no speed limit! then it would be perfect.

I believe the green cameras are Traffic Master ones, like those on blue poles along A roads.

Does sound like TrafficMaster although I thought they were all blue?

Chris

The green ones provide satnav traffic info, cant remember the name of the service. Basically they're not speed cameras.

There is an undercover silver Octy vRS which often patrols the M6 Toll... so please do be careful!

Thats good to know.

I wasn't doing silly speeds or anything, but its so empty and smooth 70 feels so slow :thumbdwn:

A guy in a Merc cruised past doing what must have been 120 constant.

I wish it was derestricted, felt like it would have been perfectly safe....there were no trucks doing 60 etc.

Aye tis a grand road and safest in Britian by some reports...although I am seeing a little more accident damage material on the sides.

It is as good as derestricted, a friend followed a 4.2 A8 out of the gates the other day...Audi didn't exactly hang about for him and pretty much left him behind at 140 ish, which is stupid, but they were not alone ;)

Watch out for the unmarked silver Octavia vRS on the toll road folks.

The M6 Toll is soooper! I've used it a few times going up to Manchester lately, it's great and worth (almost) every penny!

The green cameras over the road are for the TMC system are they not???

I wish there was an equivalent relief road for that abomination known as the M25......

I have used the Toll loads of times, and it does feel very slow at 70...... but I wouldn't know much about that

I have seen the Silver Octy pulling over a BMW though :D

Another thing I have seen, which must of happened about a minute or so before I got there was a car facing the wrong way in the first lane, having hit the central reservation first, and a push bike wrapped around what remained of the front of the car  , that had fallen off another car in front (pulled over to the hard shoulder). Just goes to show that you never know what might happen next, and how little time you might have to react if it does, especially at 100+ No matter how good a driver you think you are, some other pillock will get you anyway.....

Does feel like it should be an autobahn, very smooth and Un-british!

Aparantly the unoffical record is 14 minutes for the 27 miles stretch? Can't remember where I heard about that though, probably another car forum

I did see an M5 and 911 Turbo in an almighty dog fight early one Sunday morning on there though. A mate and me were in convoy and estimated 140-ish. Unbelievable when they passed, could hear them coming from miles away, whoosed passed and disappeared

Steve

All toll roads and road charging are evil, it's as simple as that

i live fairly close to it but have never had the need to use it...

nice road though from what i can see and from what i've heard.
