Featured Replies

Hi there, I'm a complete car novice and my 2006 Superb has warning light n beep saying brake light failure. Break pedal sensor been changed, diagnostic says no fault and the brake lights do work. Also have abs and break pad warning lights come up??

Hi and welcome aboard.

Go onto the Superb section and someone there can help.

Hello Alan

I got a recurrent brake light failure warning which turned out to be a faulty (but not blown) bulb.  Where the bulb's filament is crimped to the pylon's (for a better word), the crimp was incomplete. As the filament heated up it pulled away from the pylon, giving a 'fail' warning.  Take the bulb out and test it and all appeared well - it was only on really close inspection you could see what was going on.

Have you checked your brake pads and the wiring to them? It might just be the case that the pads are low and need replacing.

ABS one may need further investigation though.  On a previous car (Honda Accord) my ABS warning light came on about two minutes after a brake bulb failure - lots of lights on the dash and bongs going off.  Car got through brake bulbs like they were going out of fashion.

A faulty ABS sensor should be throwing up a fault.
