tick over in sports mode higher in fabia vrs dsg, normal?

Featured Replies

Hi guys just a quick Question, when I put my vrs into sports or tiptronic the Rev counter rises and the car ticks over higher, is this normal? Cheers

It is indeed, and very good it sounds to.

Then your Gearbox has 6 gears available in 'S', and really revs too high in each gear before changing for many people.

Maybe switch off TC at that point and that will stop the engine being cut of power if the tyres spin.

If you want a quick lunch.

Move the Stick to Manual 1.

Then when you boot it do not manually change gear,

 just floor it,

it will to save from killing the engine or box, change to, 2nd;, 3rd and 4th, and before the red line that should be about 100 mph.

You need change manually to 5th, or put the gear stick across to 'D'.

** If you choose to try this, best not on a public roads, and if it wrecks the engine or DSG, it was your choice, you should not have listened to me.**

Do you mean 7 gears George?

edit: But yeah it's normal. Sounds really good at traffic lights and a straight through exhaust. ;):D

I didnt think it went into 7th in sport?

Cheers guys, I've just got it and put all my savings into it so a bit paranoid lol,, I love the dsg btw can't understand the haters

No there is not '7' gears in 'S' as standard.

Some cars do, but those are few and far between.

Neil,

ignore putting it into manual and forcing changes,

you might lose all that hard earned.

I've managed it, a few times.

You won't regret it mate. I've had mine 2yrs and still love it.

If you got 7th in Sport, i would think that was above 125 mph on full accelerator under load, speed still rising..

or a False 'S 7',

in 'S' and Cruise Control on, the gearbox changes to 'D' but still shows, 'S6', or 'S7'   it is at the RPM of ' D6' or 'D7'.

Unless it is actually mapped to give Sport Mode with 7 gears.

Good to hear lol so are you saying it's bad for the dsg to change with the paddle when it's in auto?

I'm often tootling around in manual then drop it into 2nd or third via the paddles and give it some, is this bad?

You can go to manual any time you like.

Just be aware you have Supercharger to 2,400 rpm,

then Super & Turbo, or turbo with Supercharge on demand 2,400 -3,500 rpm.

then Turbo only 3,500 -7,000 rpm/

Max torque 2.000 -4.500 rpm, and VAG say max power at 6,200 rpm

This link is for the Engines before the 2009/10 Twincharger and up to 125 kw, not the 132-136 kW in the vRS or other 3 VAG Twincharger cars,

and max power was at 6,000 rpm with these.

But it gives an insight of the engines & the technology.
